Pembangunan industri atau industrialisasi bertujuan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, selanjutnya melalui pendapatan akan meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat namun pembangunan industri juga berdampak negatif dengan terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan seperti polusi udara. Hadirnya Pembangkit industri Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap di tengah masyarakat Suak Puntong membawa dampak negatif, udara di sekitar kawasan PLTU terasa panas banyaknya asap dan bau limbah yang di hasilkan oleh PLTU telah merubah kondisi lingkungan di tengah masyarakat PLTU. Kehadiran PLTU di tengah masyarakat Gampong Suak Puntong telah merusak kesehatan masyarakat. Yang menjadi rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana dampak lingkungan yang ditimbulkan oleh PLTU pada masyarakat di Gampong Suak Puntong. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: Kondisi sosial masyarakat Gampong Suak Puntong semenjak adanya PLTU, lingkungan  terasa panas, masyarakat dilanda keresahan yang diakibatkan oleh kebisingan suara yang dikeluarkan oleh mesin PLTU dan ketika terjadi pembangunan yang menggunakan paku bumi. banyaknya debu di lingkungan masyarakat hingga masuk ke rumah masyarakat. Serta bau limbah batubara yang dibuang melalui saluran berdekatan dengan rumah masyarakat. Dampak hadirnya PLTU di Gampong Suak Puntong terbukanya lapangan kerja baru, masyarakat mendapat batuan untuk masyarakat miskin dari PLTU. Demikian juga lingkungan yang ditimbulkan oleh hadirnya PLTU di Gampong Suak Puntong lingkungan di sekitar kawasan PLTU masyarakat kini banyak yang terkena penyakit seperti batuk, ispa, paru-paru, semua itu di akibatkan oleh polusi udara yang di keluarkan oleh PLTU. yang mengindap penyakit  bukan hanya dari kalangan orang dewasa saja namun juga anak-anak.

Industrial development or industrialization aims to improve the welfare of the community, then through income will improve the quality of life of the community but the industrial development also has a negative impact with the occurrence of environmental pollution such as air pollution. The presence of Steam Power Generation industry in Suak Puntong society has a negative impact, the air around the PLTU area is hot, the amount of smoke and the smell of waste generated by the power plant has changed the environmental conditions in the PLTU community. The presence of PLTU in the community of Gampong Suak Puntong has damaged the public health. The formulation of the problem in this research is how the environmental conditions of the community in the area of PLTU in Gampong Suak Puntong Sub Pesisir District Nagan Raya and How the environmental impact caused by PLTU to the community in Gampong Suak Puntong. The method used in this research is Qualitative method with technique of taking informant using purposive sampling technique. The result of the research shows that: The social condition of the people of Gampong Suak Puntong since the existence of the steam power plant, the environment was hot, the people were affected by the noise caused by the noise of the power plant and when there was development using earth spikes. The amount of dust in the community to enter the community home. And the smell of waste coal discharged through channels adjacent to the community home. The impact of the presence of PLTU in Gampong Suak Puntong opening of new jobs, the community gets rocks for the poor of PLTU. The environmental impact caused by the presence of PLTU in Gampong Suak Puntong environment around the PLTU community area is now exposed to many diseases such as cough, ispa, lungs, fever are all caused by air pollution released by the power plant. Which affects illness not only from adults but also children.
