Abstract

Ergonomics is a field of science that examines the interaction between humans and work systems to create safe, comfortable, and efficient working conditions. Barbershop workers frequently perform activities in standing positions for extended periods, accompanied by neck flexion, trunk bending, elevated arms, and repetitive movements during hair-cutting activities. These conditions may increase the risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. This study aims to assess the ergonomic risk associated with the working posture of workers at Kuta Barbershop using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method. Data were collected through direct observation, photographic documentation, interviews, and assessment of workers' postures using the REBA method. The results showed that the hair-cutting activity obtained a final REBA score of 7, indicating a medium level of ergonomic risk and requiring corrective action. The main postural risk factors included a flexed neck, bent trunk, prolonged standing, elevated upper limbs, and repetitive movements of the arms and wrists. Recommended improvements include adjustment of the customer's chair height, optimization of workers' postures, provision of adequate rest periods, and periodic stretching. These improvements are expected to reduce ergonomic risks and musculoskeletal complaints while improving workers  comfort and safety.
