Research Trends on Indonesia’s Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis): A Bibliometric Analysis of Scopus-Indexed Publications
Abstract
Prolanis is a national chronic disease management program implemented by BPJS Kesehatan in Indonesia. However, research on Prolanis has not been systematically mapped. Objective: This study aimed to examine research trends on Prolanis using a bibliometric approach. Methods: A descriptive bibliometric analysis was conducted using Scopus data without year restriction. Publications related to Prolanis, BPJS Kesehatan, chronic disease management, and Indonesia were analyzed using VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel. Results: A total of 127 documents were identified, with a sharp increase in publications after 2019. Leading contributors were major universities in Java, including Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Airlangga, and Universitas Gadjah Mada, supported mainly by national funding sources. Four main research themes were identified: clinical and demographic studies, Prolanis implementation and self-care, health policy and insurance systems, and epidemiology and health outcomes. Emerging topics such as digital health and data analytics remain limited. Conclusion: Research on Prolanis has grown rapidly but remains concentrated in major institutions and conventional themes. Greater emphasis on digital innovation, cost-effectiveness, and international collaboration is needed.
